My bss was a man in his sixties, wh shwed his emplyees apparent haughtiness(傲慢), never respnding when I greeted him when I pened the gates. But I wuldn’t quit the jb, thugh. My jb cnsisted f standing watch, pening and clsing the gates, and patrlling(巡逻)the grunds.
One afternn, my runds brught me arund the back where the leftvers were thrwn int the garbage bins, mst f which stayed untuched. I was s hungry, s I went lking fr leftvers in the bins and tk them t my wife. Regardless f desperatin and shame, I kept ding that almst every day.

The weekly fd delivery arrived as usual, but alng with my bss’ sn this time. A week later after my bss passed away, my wife pened the dr, expecting that she’d find that bag, but it was mre than the fd. My bss’s sn came up t ur drstep, which came as a great shck t me. He tld the stry abut the weekly bag f grceries. “My father tld me t prepare bags f grceries every week fr peple in need, including yu.” And he prmised that the weekly grcery delivery wuld cntinue as lng as I needed it. Surprisingly and curiusly, I culdn’t help asking abut the reasn fr my bss’s apparent haughtiness.
“He was almst deaf. Peple smetimes thught he was rude, but he was the kindest man,” said the bss’s sn. I felt my eyes flded with tears as I finally understd the reasn behind my bss’s silence and his apparent haughtiness. At that mment, I realized that the bss wh I’d thught was unpleasant was, in fact, a generus man. He’d been helping ut peple wh he knew were struggling t feed their families. I felt deeply ashamed f myself fr misjudging him. I said, “I’m srry! I misjudged yur father. I never realized he was s kind.” I made a prmise t myself that I wuld nt judge anyne by his r her appearance and I wuld ne day pass n that wnderful man’s kindness t thse in need.
    承诺:prmise/make a cmmitment
    理解:understand/ cmprehend
    传递:pass n/ hand dwn
