D yu want t knw hw t increase bne density (密度) and why it's imprtant? We need strng bnes t supprt us and allw us t mve. They prtect the brain, heart and ther majr rgans frm injury. We reach ur “peak” bne mass in ur late 20s, and we start t lse bne strength as we get lder.
If yu want t increase bne density, Vitamin C plays an essential rle in the prductin f cllagen, which in turn aids bne strength. “By cntrast, lifestyle factrs, such as stress, physical inactivity, high caffeine and alchl intakes and smking can cntribute t impaired bne health,” says Hpe, a nutritin cnsultant.
She adds: “Vitamin C is widely abundant in fruits and vegetables and cnsuming five prtins f fruits and vegetables a day is enugh t btain the recmmended 40mg per day. Vitamin C is water-sluble and therefre if high dses (剂量) are cnsumed as a supplement, the bdy will excrete the additinal Vitamin C, which is nt required.”
We all knw that weight lifting is gd fr develping muscles, but did yu knw that it als helps increase bne density? Studies have shwn that lifting weights and strength training can aid new bne grwth and maintain the existing bne structure. “Weight lifting is a brilliant lifestyle factr that can cntribute t supprting lng-term bne health as it encurages cnstant bne turnver. As a result, regular weight lifting can cntribute t the develpment f new bne, which in turn allws the bnes t get strnger,” says Hpe.

I'm a glass-half-empty persn. That's nt t say there's n jy in my life; it just desn't cme as naturally t me as it appears t thers. And despite fully meeting the textbk definitin f “the ppsite f an ptimist”, I've never thught t label myself a pessimist. But I wrry abut my glmy (悲观的) utlk because hw strngly ur culture emphasizes the value f a psitive ne. Plenty f news articles present similar ideas in a black-and-white fashin: ptimists live lnger; pessimism kills.
But sme research suggests that things aren't s simple. In 2016, fr example, a study f mre than 700,000 British wmen failed t find a link between happiness and lngevity. Culd it be that culture plays a rle—that British peple, verall, are just mre tlerant and accepting f glminess?
Nw, new research seems t shw that cultural perceptins (感知) f mental states may indeed have an influence. The study authrs analyzed health data frm 1,017 American and 374 Japanese peple.
Even after accunting fr things like a persn's age, gender, sciecnmic status, and chrnic health cnditins, there was a significant difference between the tw grups. “American adults wh experience high levels f psitive emtins, such as feeling'cheerful’ and'extremely happy’, are mre likely t have healthy bld-lipid (血脂) analysis,” explains lead study authr Jiah Y, but the same was nt true amng Japanese adults. Y explains,“In East Asian cultures, peple cmmnly view psitive emtins as having dark sides—they may attract unnecessary attentin frm thers, and can be a distractin frm fcusing n imprtant tasks.”
Past research has reached similar cnclusins. In a 2015 Stanfrd study f 690 Chinese and American participants, fr example, the Americans generally sught t maximize psitive feelings and minimize negative nes, while the Chinese subjects were mre likely t reprt that they cmmnly felt mixed emtins.
It's cmfrting fr me t hear that at least ne culture may accept and embrace my glminess. I need t be gentler with myself. Maybe I dn't need t sht fr delight. Maybe satisfactin can feel just as gd.
32.Which cuntry des the authr prbably cme frm?
A.America. B.Britain. C.Japan. D.China.
33.What des paragraph 4 mainly intend t tell us?
A.American adults are healthier than Japanese nes.
B.One's health is invlved with many factrs.
C.Culture plays a rle in ne's attitude twards psitive emtins.
D.Health is linked with happiness.
34.What can we knw frm the text?
A.Never label yurself a pessimist.
B.Optimists dn't always live lnger.
C.Psitive emtins are essential t culture.
D.Optimists are better at adapting t sciety.
35.Where is the text prbably frm?
A.A turist guide. B.A stry bk.
C.A science magazine. D.A technlgy reprt.

(Text 9)
W:Can I help yu?
M:Yes, I want t find a place t stay fr a few days.
W:Well, there are sme gd htels. Carltn Huse is near the main square in the city center, but yu might als be interested in the Ryal Oak. It's in the cuntryside, abut ten kilmeters away and very peaceful. Then there is the Bridge Htel, which is in twn but nt in the center. It is ut n the airprt rad.
M:Hmm, the Bridge Htel might be a bit far actually. OK, nw the ne yu mentined, in the city center. Can yu tell me a bit mre abut it?
W:Well, it is quite unusual—it used t be a large private huse. It was bught by the Venice chain and they cmpletely redecrated it. That's a five-star htel.
M:Des it have a swimming pl?
W:N. The Ryal Oak has an utdr pl, which is lvely in summer, but the nly htel with an indr pl is the Bridge Htel.
M:I see. Well, I think I'll g fr the ne in the city center.
(Text 10)
W:Gd mrning. I'm very pleased t have this pprtunity t say abut an excitement in the city: the Megan Open-Air Swimming Pl. The pl used t be an pen-air pl n the sea 30 years ag, but it had t be clsed because it was unsafe. Nw it is rebuilt and is t be pen again. The idea f repening it came frm yu, the public, in the survey cnducted by the City Cuncil last year. And the fund fr rebuilding the pl came frm the SWDC—the Suth West Develpment Cmmissin.
This new heated pl was designed by a famus architect, Ellen Wendn. He used a charming design, with the latest features such as a recycling system which enables seawater t be used in the pl. All the cst f the rebuilding prject was within the budget. Nw there has been quite a bit f discussin in the lcal press abut whether there wuld be enugh rm fr the number f visitrs. Dn't wrry. There have been careful checks abut its capacity.
The pening date f the new pl is set n July 15th. We have invited an actr t declare it pen. We plan t have a sculpture at the entrance. There will als be a cmpetitin fr yu t decide which famus histrical figure frm the city we shuld have. And again we'd lve t see yu there.
