On a cool gray morning,Wilson Kasaine heads out along a dirt path in southern Kenya. His calmness makes it easy to forget that he’s tracking one of the most dangerous animals in the world:lions.Born into a traditional Maasai family,he quickly grew to understand the beauty and danger of wildlife.Living with big wild animals forces him to develop a good sense of where they have been and where they may be going.During his 12-kilometer walks to and from school,he learned how to tell the paw prints of a lion from those of other animals.
Growing up,Kasaine knew that improving his tracking abilities would help him avoid surprise meetings with dangerous animals. For many Maasai, tracking is mainly a matter of self-protection.But Kasaine is tracking lions to meet them and to protect them.He leads a small group of wide-eyed tourists over the red sandy path, searching for the lion that has left upon it his prints.
Each year, thousands of tourists crowd Kenya’s national parks to try to catch a glimpse of the “big five”:elephants, rhinoceros, leopards, buffaloes and lions. The international draw of these animals matters a lot because the nation’s economy is tied to the protection of its wildlife. If Kenya’s wildlife disappears,so does its second-largest source of income.
Wildlife protection efforts in Kenya meant marking off land only for animals. But it also meant that the people who had originally lived in the area were forced to leave their land and into smaller surrounding areas, and they are also finding it increasingly hard to keep a traditional Maasai lifestyle. But people are glad that it really makes a difference to wildlife protection.
24.How did Kasaine track lions?
A.By working together with tourists. B.By running after them all the time.
C.By going to school every day. D.By studying their paw prints.
25.What can we learn from Paragraph Three?
A.Maasai people are born animal lovers.
B.Tourism is a big threat to Kenya’s wildlife.
C.Kenya benefits a lot from its wildlife protection.
D.Small animals are not included in their protection policy.
26.What does the underlined word “it” in the last paragraph refer to?
A.Kenya’s economic development. B.People’s leaving their original homes.
C.Kenya’s second-largest income source. D.Kenyan people’s traditional Maasai lifestyle.
27.What is the best title for the text?
A.Wildlife protection in Kenya. B.Meeting a dangerous animal.
C.Wilson Kasaine’s wise choice. D.Learning to live with lions.

The Arctic is not a safe place to be by any stretch of the imagination.Essentially a vast, floating block of ice, with only a small area of land, the landscape can be almost totally different from year to year.Even the most experienced explorers are lucky to return with all their fingers and toes, not to mention their lives.
Into this extreme environment stepped Nabil Al Busaidi. In fact,he didn’t just step—he stepped and skied his way across 650km,pulling 50kg of equipment. He also carried the flag of the Sultanate of Oman, which he held in the air at the North Pole, becoming the first Arab to achieve this impressive feat (壮举).
On the way to the North Pole,Nabil was driven by the reward of success and the pain at the thought of failure.“Through the 20-whatever days, every minute there was a different thing that kept me going, either the fear of failure, the fear of dying or the reward of finishing and getting somewhere warm.”
The ever-present cold, averaging around -40℃ but dropping as low as a recorded -81℃,is his overriding (首要的) memory of the experience. As an Omani,Nabil had an additional 20℃ drop in temperature to get used to,compared to his British teammates.Apart from the extreme cold, polar bears were a common feature of the journey, and Nabil and the team had their fair share of bear encounters.“Polar bears are dangerous, but they are not that threatening because they don’t intend to harm humans. They’re usually either curious or just don’t care.We saw five bears, and none were aggressive,” said Nabil.
One final problem Nabil faced was the stress put on team relations by the severity of the conditions, especially during the first three stages of the journey. However, during the fourth and final leg,the team worked so well together that they travelled 130km in only two and a half days.
28.What does Paragraph 1 show?
A.Arctic is hard to conquer for explorers. B.The value of Arctic exploration.
C.Nabil’s good luck. D.The change of the Arctic.
29.What can we know about Nabil?
A.He had gone on an Arctic journey before.
B.He explored the Arctic with pretty light packs.
C.He finished the exploration of the Arctic all alone.
D.He suffered more from extreme cold than his teammates.
30.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Life in the Arctic. B.Climate of the Arctic.
C.The first Arab to step into the Arctic.
D.Achievements scientists made in the Arctic.

People often fail to mention it to the freshman: you can gain the weight or lose it. It just takes some determination and attention to your diet. 31
Stay away from late-night eating.
32 There students can swipe their cards and pick up sandwiches, burgers, chips or anything else they want to eat very much.If there’s no 24-hour option, most of those places tend to be open late to accommodate for those late-night study periods.
Don’t eat out so often;stick to your meal plan.
It’s tempting to head straight to the restaurants on your way home from class. 33 Some college campuses are filled with restaurants which are unclean being around so many hungry college students, but the extra calories and fat in that food will take a toll on you as the semester goes on if you’re not careful of how often you eat out.
Take advantage of the gym.
Your parents are paying a big sum of money for you to study and earn your degree, but at some schools that tuition price includes unlimited access to your university’s recreation buildings. So take advantage of your parents’ cash. 34 If you’re lucky, that gym fee comes with access to classes so you can learn yoga or join a workout group all without paying anything out of pocket.
35
Unless you’re at a university where the campus is spread out into two campuses,or a school in the city where buildings might be somewhat far apart,it’s not a long walk to get from your dorm to your class. So skip that crowded bus, leave your car at home and walk to class.
A.Get an exercise friend.
B.Walk to class.
C.And head to the gym as often as you can.
D.Almost all of the college students like to stay in shape.
E.These are simple health tips for college students.

These days our society develops rapidly and forces people to rush.It appears that people have got used to being in a hurry. However,it’s better for people to take their time and live their life at a slower pace than to hurry to get things done.
The main reason that convinces us to oppose doing work in a hurry is the possibility of doing wrongs in a rush. When people do their jobs or take action in a hurry, they can’t make a sound decision and probably regret later. As the saying goes,“Haste makes waste.”We should think carefully before making a decision and do our work less quickly. We should not make mistakes by doing work hurriedly.
Slowing down the pace of life helps people enjoy their life better. For example, taking a train to some place certainly will take more time than taking a plane. However, taking a train makes people have enough time to get to know a lot of new friends.Besides,it allows people to fully enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.On the contrary, being in a hurry will make us lose chances of enjoying our lives.
Finally, slower life pace provides better health conditions for us.As is known to all, taking action in a hurry bothers people and raises their stress.People think if they are not in a hurry, they will become a loser and that annoys them. But being in a hurry can hurt people both physically and mentally.According to some studies, people who have a slower pace suffer fewer diseases, tend to be happier and live much longer than those whose life is tense, even if the former finish jobs more slowly than the latter.
In short, working quickly will bring about more material benefits to make our society more advanced.Yet,much stress can’t bring enjoyment, friends and health, which are much more important than money and other material advantages. Therefore, take your time and live your life at a slower pace.

Millions of New Yorkers and visitors ride the city’s subway each day.The public transportation system offers more than just a trip, however. It also has one of the most public art collections in the world. Some people call it New York’s “underground art museum”.It includes 265 works of art. They are meant to brighten everyone’s ride around the city.
There is the huge painting of the night sky on the ceiling of Grand Central Terminal.New Yorkers have been looking up at that artwork for 100 years. For the past 30 years, works that relate to city life around a train station have been made. There are small, rounded, metal creatures at Atlantic Ocean.Native plants and flowers can be found in a garden scene in Brooklyn.
Many riders praise the underground art.Tonya Pierre says,“I think it’s nice when you see these kinds of attractive things in places like the subway stations that seem a little bit dull.Even on cloudy winter days, the works in New York’s underground art museum can also bring life into the dark passages.”

during表示“在……期间”。
60.to watch 考查非谓语动词。“be+形容词+enough to do sth.”
I,taking good care of的宾语指的就是主语I,故此处要用I的反身代词myself。
