while listening and reading是while I am listening and reading的省略形式。状语从句的省略包括两种情形:※当状语从句的主语和主句的主语一致,且从句中含有be动词时,可将从句 的主语和be动词一起省略。※当从句中含有“it+be动词”时,可将it和be动词省略。

或者……或者……,在句中连接两个相同的成分。当连接两个名词/代词作主语时,谓语动词遵循“就近一致”原则。有类似用法的还有:既不……也不……,不是……而是……,nt als...不但……而且……等。

[温馨提示]※除可连接两个词或短语外,还可连接两个句子,如:Either yu must imprve yur wrk r I shall dismiss yu.要么你改进工作,要么我就辞退你。※的否定式可以是neither ,也可是nt 。

n matter what(=whatever)无论……,不管……,用来引导让步状语从句,类似连词还有:n matter wh(=whever)无论谁,n matter which(=whichever)无论哪一个(些),n matter when(whenever)无论何时,n matter where(=wherever)无论哪里,n matter hw(=hwever)无论怎样。
