During the Middle Ages, the main aim f painters was t represent religius themes. Artists didn’t shw nature and peple as they really were. Typical pictures were full f religius symbls. They drew hly spirits with hly light ver their heads t shw their feeling f respect and lve fr Gd because they thught they were created by Gd.

These fur paintings represent fur different styles f Western painting. The first ne is frm Middle Ages. It is called Crucifixin by Gitt. In the painting we can see many religius symbls, such as gd and gddess, angels and Jesus Christ. They had hals ver their heads and fixed expressins n their faces. The main aim f paintings in Middle Ages was t shw respect and lve fr Gd as they believed they were created by Gd.
The secnd painting, the Last Supper by Lenard da Vinci, is frm Renaissance. During Renaissance, peple gradually began t embrace new ideas and values. Peple began t cncentrate less n religius symbls and adpt a humanistic attitude t life. They tried t paint peple and nature. Thanks t drawing things in perspective, paintings lked mre realistic. Oil paints were als discvered. The clrs lked richer and deeper.
The third painting is Impressin, Sunrise frm Mnet. It belngs t Impressinism. In the late 19th century, Eurpe changed frm a mstly agricultural sciety t a mstly industrial ne. Sme painters frm Paris, called Impressinists, began t wrk utdrs t shw hw light and shadw fell n bjects at different times f a day. They had t paint quickly s their paintings were nt accepted because they thught the paintings were ridiculus and nt detailed.
The furth painting is called Guernica by Pabl Picass. It belngs t Mdern Art. It depicted the hpelessness and cruelty f wars. There are scres f Mdern Art styles. Paintings f this perid are called pure art and they shw sme abstract ideas and thughts. Sme are abstract as the painters nly cncentrate n certain qualities f bjects, using clr, shape and line t represent them. Sme paintings are s realistic that they lk like phtgraphs.
Persnally speaking, my favrite ne is the third painting, Impressin, Sunrise by Mnet. Firstly, I have a preference fr Impressinism. In additin, Mnet is ne f my favrite painters. I enjy every painting painted and created by him. Lking at the painting, I can find the peace and serenity in my mind. Mre imprtantly, the rising sun represents hpe, prmise and mtivatin. It never fails t brighten ur lives.
