Nw Kamikatsu peple separate their waste int 45 different categries. But in the beginning, it wasn't easy t cnvince lcal peple t d all this wrk, and there was sme pushback. Only after that initial educatin perid did mst residents cme n bard.
This is all great news fr waste reductin f curse, but it has als had sme unexpected scial benefits as well. Like much f Japan, Kamikatsu's ppulatin is aging, and abut 50 percent f the lcals are elderly. The fact that the whle cmmunity takes their trash in t be recycled has created a lcal actin and interactin between generatins.
That idea has been purpsefully expanded t include a circular shp where husehld gds are drpped ff and thers can take them, and a tableware "library" where peple can brrw extra cups, glasses, silverware and plates fr celebratins.
"The elderly see this nt as a waste-cllectin service, but an pprtunity t scialize with the yunger generatin and t chat. When we visit them, they prepare lts f fd and we stay with them fr a while, we ask hw they are," Sakan, the funder f the Zer Waste Academy, said.

The last f ur midterm tests will be held this week frm the 12th t the 14th. Hwever, there has been a slight change t the dates and the places f the exams. Last year, the English exams were n Wednesday, the math exams n Thursday, and the histry exams were held n Friday. This year the teachers have agreed, after listening t students’ suggestins, t switch the dates f the math and histry exams.
