    The research was carried ut n tmat plants and tbacc plants by cutting their stems(茎) and depriving(剥夺) them f water. A micrphne was placed 10cm away frm them. When their stems were cut, the plants started “screaming” between 20 and 100 kilhertz, and the scientists guess that this scream is prbably meant t warn ther plants nearby.
    When the tmat plants’ stems were cut, 25 ultrasnic(超声的) pain sunds were recrded in an hur, and at the same time, 15 ultrasnic pain sunds were recrded frm the tbacc plants.
