According to several recent surveys, some people fear public speaking more than anything else. 16 , this fear can be overcome with two simple methods: practice and using positive energy from the audience.
Practicing for a speech is essential. 17 the task of writing the speech is complete, speakers must practice, practice, practice. The more times they practice the speech, the more 18 they are discussing the topic. Using 19 such as mirrors or video recordings as they practice can show speakers what they look and sound like to the audience. Video is particularly helpful as it can be 20 many times, with the presenters focusing on one part at a time. Another 21 of dealing with public speaking fears is using the audience’s positive energy. Speakers need to remember that the audience wants them to 22 .Something as basic as a small nod or a smile from a member of the audience should give 23 to the presenters behind the podium. While it is easy for nervous speakers to focus only on getting through the presentation, using the audience’s 24 will helps much in making a speech better.
All in all, these two strategies are sure to help with fear of public speaking. With proper practice and audience empathy, it is 25 to overcome the fear of public speaking and deliver a successful speech. So there is no need to fear public speaking any more.

三、阅读单选
"Are you listening, Simon?" Simon's teacher asked. It was a pretty usual question.
Simon shook his head, smiling. He hardly listened or tried hard in class. Talking was so much fun. He wanted to be heard rather than listen.
"Listen, and you'll learn something." Mrs. Jacobs tried every day, but Simon never paid attention.
That evening, his throat really hurt. The next morning, when he opened his mouth to say "Good morning", nothing came out but a croak.
Simon's mother looked at him. "Honey, you've lost your voice."
"Can I stay home?" He tried to ask, but words didn't come out. Instead, his mother checked him for a fever and decided it was good for him to go to school, even if he couldn't talk.
When he got to school, Mrs. Jacobs said "Hello" to him, and he just nodded. When his friends asked him what TV shows he watched last night, he just shrugged. By the time the bell rang for class, almost everyone was looking at him as if he'd grown a third eye.
Penny raised her hand. "Mrs. Jacobs, why isn't Simon talking?"
"He never stops talking." Richard said worriedly.
Everyone started talking at once. They were excited, worried, and surprised.
Simon sat in class bored. He watched them talk to each other as if the teacher wasn't there, but he couldn't even do that. In math class he could hold up fingers if the answer was less than 10, but that wasn't fun. He decided to try to pay attention.
He could do his homework that night. It gave him TV and game time with his work all done.
The next day, even though his voice was coming back, he stayed quiet again. The third day, he could talk fine, but he listened and raised his hand to speak.
What a difference that one day made!

Cait, 11, was trying to fall asleep when her 8-year-old brother, Doug, came into her room. He looked around, but seemed really out of it. Then Doug went back into the hallway and stood there looking straight up at the light. This was really strange. Cait didn’t know what to do. Just then, Cait’s father appeared and explained Doug was sleepwalking.
Not all sleep is the same every night. We experience some deep, quiet sleep and some active sleep, which is when dreams happen. You might think sleepwalking would happen during active sleep, but a person isn’t physically active during active sleep. It usually happens in the first few hours of sleep in the period called deep sleep.
The truth is that not all sleepwalkers walk. Some simply sit up or stand in bed or act like they’re awake when, in fact, they’re asleep! Most, however, do get up and walk around for a few seconds or for as long as half an hour.
Sleepwalkers’ eyes are open, but they don’t see the same way they do when they’re awake. They tend to go back to bed on their own and won’t remember it in the morning.
You also might have heard that sleepwalkers can get frightened if you wake them up. That’s true, so what do you do if you see someone sleepwalking? You should call for a grown-up who can lead the person back to bed. And once the sleepwalker is tucked back in bed, it’s time for you to get some sleep, too!
31.What does “out of it” most probably mean in Chinese?

34.What should we do if we see people sleepwalking?
A.Wake them up. B.Walk around with them.
C.Do nothing and get your own sleep. D.Ask grown-ups to lead them to bed.
35.Who is the text written for?
A.Teachers. B.Doctors. C.Parents. D.Children.
When people discover that I work as a film and TV extra, they always ask me the same questions: Emily, is it easy to get work? Isn’t it boring? Do you get to meet famous actors? Does it pay well? My answers are pretty standard as well: Yes, sometimes, once in a while, and… kind of. The life of an extra is both more interesting and more boring than you might imagine.
Extras, who play the people in crowds, on streets, or in the background of indoor scenes, can come from all walks of life. Unlike many extras, I’m a trained actor. I do get real speaking roles, but work can be hard to come by if you’re not a popular star. I’m registered with an agency that deals only with extras, so I get calls all the time. The agency explains who I’ll be — someone in a crowd, a member of a jury, a clerk — and tells me where to go. Call time is usually bright and early, so I try to get to bed at a reasonable hour.
Sometimes being an extra is a “hurry up and wait” job. In my first extra role, I was one of a group of office workers who come out of a building just as a car explodes in the street. We waited for hours for the scene to be shot, and then went in and out of the building about fifty times, trying to act terrified by an explosion which was not real. Then we had lunch, changed clothes, and spent the afternoons as customers in a department store.
It may sound like I don’t enjoy the work, but I do. Being part of the background in a convincing way is challenging, and being on a film or TV set is always fascinating. A lot of famous actors don’t even notice the extras, but the ones who do make the job a lot of fun for everyone. As for the money, it’s nothing compared to what the big actors make, but it pretty much pays the bills. And, as a bonus. I’ve beaten my high scores on all my phone games, thanks to all the time I spend sitting around, waiting for something to happen.
36.Emily gives standard answers because ________.
A.she is proud of her job B.she wants to hide her feelings
C.she thinks it’s unnecessary to explain D.they are the exact answers to the questions
37.What does Emily think of her job?
A.Busy. B.Enjoyable. C.Fashionable. D.Easy.
38.In the passage, another way to say as a bonus would be ________.
A.above expectation B.as a result C.in general D.after all
39.According to the passage, ________.
A.the famous actors look down upon the extras
B.being an extra is always a “hurry up and wait” job
C.Emily tells the truth about being a film and TV extra
D.those who want to be film or TV extras must be trained
40.We can infer that Emily ________.
A.often pays the bills for others B.sometimes has to get up very early
C.has beaten all the phone game players D.was in face of danger in her first extra role

You might think the largest library in the world would be in Europe. But it isn’t. It’s in Washington, D.C.It’s called the Library of Congress.
President John Adams started the library in 1800 for members of Congress. He wanted them to be able to read books about law. The first 740 books were bought in England. This idea changed the library fundamentally.
The library grew and grew. Now it covers acres of land. It has about 20 million books as well as scores of pictures, movies, globes and machines. Experts in every field work there. Hundreds of people call every day with all kinds of questions. Many of them get answers right over the phone.
